How it works
How this site works, and who actually does the work
We don't install windows, hang doors or cut glass. We're a free referral service: you tell us what's wrong, and we pass it to an independent local glass professional in Hamilton, Ontario who does that kind of job. They quote you directly, and if you go ahead, the work is between you and them.
A referral service, not an installer
The pros we match you with run their own businesses. They aren't our staff, so the quote, the contract, the work and any warranty come from them, not us. Sending a request costs you nothing, and you're never obliged to accept a quote.
Ontario doesn't make the glazier trade a licensed one, so there's no provincial licence number to look up. Ask about experience with your kind of job and about insurance. The Skilled Trades Ontario trade page explains the trade.
We aren't affiliated with any other window or glass business that has a similar name. If you meant to reach a particular company, check its own website.
What happens after you submit
We pass on what you give us: your description, any photos, your postal code or address, and your name, phone and email. The privacy policy sets out what we keep and why.
The pro who takes it on contacts you to ask questions and quote. Then we follow up. If nobody has been in touch, let us know and we'll pass the request to another pro. We don't promise arrival times, prices or warranties, because we don't control them.
At the rural edges of the former towns, a postal code tells us whether a pro works near you.
How pros set prices and what to ask them
A price depends on the size and type of glass, whether the shape is standard, the state of the frame, how easy the opening is to reach, how many openings there are and whether a Heritage Permit is involved. A photo can be enough for a pro to quote a single pane or sealed unit. A whole window or door usually needs a visit to measure.
Worth asking before you agree:
- Can I have the quote in writing, with parts and labour listed separately?
- Does the price include HST, removal and disposal?
- What could change once you measure, and will you tell me before it does?
- What does the warranty cover, and who handles a claim?
Your protections on an Ontario home contract
If you sign a contract at home, Ontario's consumer protection law gives you a cooling-off period to cancel without a reason. The Ontario government's page on home service contracts explains how. The same law limits how far a final bill can go over the estimate unless you agree, one more reason to get it in writing. The Consumer Protection Act, 2002 has the full wording.
More answers are on the FAQ page, and the terms of use cover how the site works.
Send your request when you're ready
A line or two and a photo is plenty. Say whether you're below the escarpment, on the Mountain or in one of the former towns.
