Privacy policy
This policy covers what Glass Help Hamilton collects through this site, why, and who sees it. In short, it's a free referral service: when you ask for a quote, your request goes to an independent glazier or window pro in or near Hamilton, Ontario, who prices the job. This draft is being reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

Who is responsible for your information
Glass Help Hamilton runs this website and the referral service, and it is the organization accountable for the personal information you send through it. We're not affiliated with any similarly named window or door business in Hamilton; if you dealt with another company, its own policy applies. The federal private-sector privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), applies to everything we do with it. If that law changes, so will this policy.
What we collect and why
When you fill in either form, we receive:
- how to reach you: name, phone number and email;
- where the job is, by street address or postal code, so the request reaches a pro who works the Lower City, the Mountain or your town;
- your note about the job, including heritage status or whether it's a rental or condo, so the pro knows what they're pricing;
- any photos or files you add;
- your consent choices and when you gave them.
It's used to move your request along, check in if it stalls and improve the service. We never sell personal information.
What goes to the pro, and when
Only quote requests are forwarded, and only after you tick the consent box on the quote form. The independent pro then receives:
- your name and contact details;
- where the job is;
- your description and photos.
They don't see your marketing choice or contact-form messages. When a pro turns a job down, another one covering your area may get it instead; ask us which business has yours. Each pro holds your request as a separate business with its own privacy duties.
Checking coverage first? Send just a postal code through the contact page. Nothing is forwarded until you ask for a quote.
Who else we share it with
- Service providers. Companies that host the site, handle forms, send messages, track calls and measure visits process it for us under contract. Some keep data outside Canada, often in the United States, where authorities there may be able to reach it.
- Legal requests. If a law compels it, or to stop fraud or misuse of the site.
Nobody receives your information to market their own products to you.
Cookies, analytics and calls
Cookies and similar tools keep forms working, count visits and show which search or ad brought you here, which can involve your IP address, device and browser. You can block or clear cookies, though the forms may need some. Calls to our number pass through a call-tracking service that logs the calling number, time and length. If a call is recorded, you'll hear a notice first.
Consent, withdrawal and marketing messages
Ticking the consent box on the quote form is what allows us to forward your request as set out above. Anything we or that pro send you about it stays on that subject.
Tips and offers are optional; leave that box blank and the quote comes anyway. Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) treats an inquiry as limited, short-lived permission to message you about it, never as permission to market to you. Any promotional email or text from us says who it's from and carries a working unsubscribe (CRTC guidance). A request to stop calls has to be honoured under the National Do Not Call List rules; tell us and we'll pass it to the pro.
You can withdraw consent at any time. That stops our future use, but a pro who already has your request holds a copy, so contact them too; we'll tell you who it is.
Keeping and protecting it
Records stay only while the request, any follow-up, proof of consent and our legal duties call for them. Then we delete them or remove whatever identifies you. Only those who need them see them. Should a breach put you at real risk of significant harm, we'll tell you and report it to the federal privacy commissioner, as PIPEDA requires.
Access, correction and contact
Ask us for a copy of what we have on you and a list of who received it, fix anything wrong, or have it erased, apart from records the law makes us keep. Send the request through the contact page and we'll respond within PIPEDA's deadline. If our answer doesn't satisfy you, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada takes complaints.
